Strategy Games That Don't Punish You for Living

A lot of mobile strategy games are built around anxiety. Timers, energy, raids you have to defend or lose everything. It's exhausting, and it has nothing to do with actual strategy.

Iron Tide Command showed us it doesn't have to be that way. Its campaign is a series of self-contained tactical puzzles you can pick up and leave without penalty. The depth is in the decisions, not in the calendar.

That's the kind of strategy game worth your time: one where your progress is protected and your skill, not your schedule, decides the outcome. You can think for ten minutes or ten hours and both feel fine.

We're increasingly wary of any strategy game that leans on fear of missing out. It usually signals a design that values your attention more than your enjoyment.

If you love the genre but hate the treadmill, seek out the campaign-driven ones. They exist, and they're better for it.
